Preparation & Usage
Directions / Instructions Spread Qik Joe lightly and evenly over icy surfaces (if the snow is more than 2 inches deep, plow or shovel it first, then apply Qik Joe to melt the remaining snow or ice). Sprinkle 1/4 to 1/2 cup (2 to 4 ounces) per square yard. Do not over-apply. As the ice and snow melt, remove the slush and water immediately to prevent the surface from refreezing. Big storm on the way? As it snows, spread Qik Joe on the areas you intend to clear once the storm stops. This will make shoveling easier and help prevent ice formation. Application Guidelines Application guidelines are provided below. Product may not be safe for use in applications not specifically recognized by the product manufacturer. Read safety data sheet before use. Snow and Ice Melter: Effective to -15°F This product is recommended for deicing asphalt and concrete surfaces that have been designed, constructed and adequately cured for winter weather conditions and deicer usage. Calcium chloride will not chemically attack asphalt or concrete, however the re-freezing of absorbed melt water may cause weak, porous surfaces to spall or scale. Product is not recommended for deicing surfaces composed of wood or metal, precast steps or masonry (stone, brick, mortar joints). Also vulnerable is all concrete that is less than two (2) years old. Avoid contact with leather products. Use entrance mats to avoid tracking snow, slush or residual deicer onto interior floors that may become slippery when wet.
