Patrick Burns is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Burns’ Family Neighborhood Markets, which operates The Fresh Grocer and ShopRite supermarkets throughout the Greater Philadelphia area. With a steadfast commitment to bringing first-class stores into communities that need them most, Patrick Burns and his team opened the very first The Fresh Grocer location in 2001 in West Philadelphia and now operate five stores under The Fresh Grocer banner and two under the ShopRite banner. The Burns’ stores are known for making a difference everyday through great food, great service and being active members of their community.

Patrick Burns is a well-respected member of the Philadelphia community. In 2018, he was named Family Business Leader of the Year by The Philadelphia Inquirer, and his supermarkets continue to be featured on The Philadelphia Business Journal’s list of top employers. Patrick has many varied philanthropic interests and has been recognized for his commitment to charities including the American Red Cross, Philabundance and local police and fire departments. Additionally, he is Chair of is Chair of the Pennsylvania Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial (America250PA), established to plan, encourage, develop and coordinate the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, Pennsylvania’s integral role in that event, and the impact of its people on the nation’s past, present, and future.
