Basic Homemade Flour Tortillas

Ingredients
2 cups flour (plus extra for dusting)
3/4 cup hot water
1/2 tsp salt
3 tbs oil
Directions

1. In a large bowl whisk together dry ingredients: flour and salt.

 

2. In a measuring cup whisk together wet ingredients: hot water and oil.

 

3. Slowly add wet ingredients to the bowl with the dry ones. Using spatula incorporate until soft dough forms.

 

4. Remove the dough to lightly floured surface. Knead about 10-12 times (add flour as necessary) until smooth dough forms (not sticky). Let it rest for about 10 minutes.

 

5. Divide dough in 8 equal balls. On lightly floured surface roll each ball into 7 -8 inch circle (very thin)

 

6. Heat a heavy, large nonstick skilled over medium- high heat

 

7. Cook each tortilla on a dry skillet about 1 minute until light brown spots start to appear and then flip on the second side and cook for about 30 seconds.

 

8. Stack cooked tortillas in a kitchen towel wrapping them nicely.
